Brent Shadow Clinical Commissioning Group

GP commissioning in Brent is well established with strong and committed clinical leadership. GPs in Brent have been working in the existing commissioning consortia for the last four years and these networks emerged with little change from the localities that were formed on the establishment of the PCT. Each practice has re-signed up to membership of their consortium and to their commissioning plans every year for the last three years. The practices provided signed commitment to membership of their consortium, federation, plans and support for the appointment of the individual clinical director applicants.

Brent GP Federation is made up of the five locality consortia. The five consortia federating to borough level provides the opportunity to share benefit from all the clinical leadership in Brent and a high level of collaborative working and sharing across the patch. The upward federation of the five consortia allows for strong joint commissioning at borough level, risk sharing/brokering, shared learning and economies of scale whilst retaining local autonomy, high levels of grass roots engagement, focus on local priorities and provision of services closer to patients and service users.
